FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Delegate Galen Clagett will Seek Re-election in 2010
FREDERICK, Md., Jan. 6/ --- As preparations begin for the start of this year’s General Assembly, Delegate Galen Clagett, of Maryland’s District 3A, has announced that he will seek re-election in 2010. He will hold a campaign announcement event on Monday, January 11 from 4:30 to 6pm at Mick’s New American Bistro at 207 West Patrick Street.
During Delegate Clagett’s tenure at the Maryland State House, Frederick County has received over $1.4 billion dollars in Direct State Aid including $228 million for Health, Social, and Senior Services, and $97 million in public school construction. He has been instrumental in garnering money and support for Frederick Community College, the Maryland School for the Deaf, the Frederick County Detention Center, and Harry Grove Stadium.
Education, public safety, economic development, and the environment are core issues for Delegate Galen Clagett. He has spent the last seven years in Annapolis putting Frederick first by securing millions of dollars in funds and making sure that Frederick’s priorities are addressed by the State of Maryland.
Upon announcing his bid for re-election, Delegate Clagett received the following endorsement from Maryland State Comptroller Peter Franchot:
"I have worked closely with Galen Clagett through the years and there is nobody in Annapolis that I respect more. As his colleague on the House Appropriations Committee, I regularly watched Galen bring people of different philosophies and interests together to achieve real progress for Frederick County. As Comptroller, I continue to work closely with Galen and appreciate, more than ever, his sense of fiscal responsibility and inclusive leadership. Galen Clagett is one of Maryland's most admired public servants, a careful steward of taxpayer dollars, and an effective advocate for the people of Frederick County."
- Peter Franchot, Comptroller of Maryland
And from House Speaker Michael Busch:
"Galen Clagett has been a backbone in the House during his tenure in Annapolis. He has brought his conservative principles to his chairmanship of the Public Safety Subcommittee and is a key player in crafting the State's budget each year. Galen's private sector experience and tenure as a legislator have made him an important voice for Western Maryland in the General Assembly - a voice that Frederick County can count on."
- Speaker Michael E. Busch
Delegate Clagett is looking forward to a successful 2010 General Assembly Session and hopes to return to the State House for a third term to serve his constituents in Maryland’s District 3A.
